Visiting the Statue of Liberty

The Statue of Liberty is New York City's most beloved landmark. Both residents and visitors flock to see her up close, as well as enjoy the view, and experience Ellis Island.

If you want to visit, here is some information that will be helpful:

Importance of Monument Tickets
Without a monument ticket you may only visit the grounds of Liberty Island. If you want to visit the museum gallery and pedestal observation levels you need a monument ticket. Secondary screening on Liberty Island is required for those entering the monument.

Access to the Monument doesn't cost extra. It is available at no cost from the ferry company when you buy a ferry ticket using the Reserved Ticket AND you select the Monument Access option.

Summer is season, and so are holidays. Order your tickets in advance and request a monument pass by calling the ferry company at: 1-877-LADY-TIX or on-line at StatueCruises.com

If you're a free-spirit and want to do the last-minute thing, a limited number of Monument tickets are available from the ferry company each day on a first-come, first-served basis.

Crown tickets must be picked up at the ticket office Will Call window (at either Liberty State Park embarkation site or Castle Clinton in Manhattan) by the ticket purchaser. In order to pick up the tickets the purchaser must show photo ID and the same credit card used to reserve the tickets. Crown tickets are for a specific date and time. The ticket will have the time to enter the embarkation site security facility printed on the face.

All ferry tickets include access to Liberty Island and the Ellis Island Immigration Museum. But if you plan to visit both, allow a full day. Just the screenings alone will eat up time.
